NOTE:If this is your first time coming to the Asian Man newsletter and are wondering what the heck this newsletter is??? Well, it's just my place to rant about anything, so for real news, please email
miya@asianmanrecords.com and just request to be added to the mailing list and you will be sent news that actually pertains to the bands we work with.
Just one more week of tour and I'll be back home for at least 2 months. I'm currently traveling from Vegas to Phoenix. It's pretty darn hot here in the desert, but fortunately we've got air conditioning that seems to be working pretty good. A bit of trouble earlier in the drive, but it's all systems go!!
I've had a great experience on tour these past 6 weeks. I've been able to meet a lot of people who grew up listening to Asian Man Records and it's flattering to hear the kind words from people all over the states. I feel like I've been so out of touch with the music scene these past 8 years, that I find myself people watching so much at the shows. Looking at the current fashion of the kids at the shows can be quite amusing. The shows have been drawing a lot of indie rock kids and they are very stylish. The girls will wear scarves even though it's scorching hot??? I don't get it, but oh well. If you can take the heat, then more power to you.
First thing I'm gonna do when I get back home is ride my bike over to my favorite restaurant(Tofu Com Chiey) and eat some good Vegan food. I've eaten so poorly on tour......argghhh....I feel pretty sluggish, but it's still fun. And of course, I'll be slugging away at the label to catch up with piles upon piles of work that will be awaiting my arrival. I talked to Miya today and she said Mailorder has been picking up, which is nice to hear. I know there's boxes full of stuff that I need to get rid of when I get home, so I'll be doing a huge grab bag sale. Tons of magazines, stickers, buttons, patches, cd's, demos, etc.. So get ready for that by the end of June.
Well....Hope everyone is doing well enjoying their summer vacation or for some their last few weeks of school.(or for others, the daily grind) I'll be home soon to enjoy the beautiful bay area. Be well.
Peace always, Mike Park
