MICHAEL JORDAN TOUCHDOWN PASS CD-$5
PLAN IT X RECORDS
Here's their bio on the release:
on tour i get a lot of cds handed to me. demos. most of them (and i'm not trying to sound mean) are not very good. well, at a ghost mice show in CT, pat the bunny of johnny hobo and the frieght trains handed me a CDR and said it was his little brothers band and that he wanted me to hear it. we put it in the next day and listened to it about 20 more times on that tour and the tour was only 10 days long. this cd is the work of one kid, michael. he recorded all the songs himself, playing drums, guitar, bass and singing. it's great. it has a nice mix of sounds. my first thought was: built to spill and the weakerthans and a little bit of the Vermont/johnny hobo/wingnut sound. this is not folk punk. this is not emo/solo dude stuff. this is a whole band. he just hasn't found band members yet. why? because he is only 15 years old. consider this release to be his flyer: BAND MATES WANTED. michael lives in brattleboro VT. this CD is a split release with the DIY bandits from shelton CT and
pat the bunny's label, Spare Change Records, from brattle boro. please check out these labels. they are doing some good stuff.

MILLOY / THE LEIF ERICSSON Split CD (NEW) - $5

Leif Ericsson is more of a straight ahead punk band that sounds a bit like they could be on Jade Tree Records along side the EXPLOSION. Catchy, poppy and PUNK ROCK!

SCREAMING FATRAT-"Idiomatic Breakdown" CD-$5 SOLD OUT
REVEIEW FROM RAZORCAKE:Picture Husker Du and sushi and meaty hooks. Then splice in The Clash (especially “White Man in Hammersmith Palais”) and California rolls and shimmering guitars. Cut with immaculate harmonies. Rising suns with snap, crackle, and pop. The lead vocalists sings in a clipped, almost Big Drill Car delivery with humming and driving melodies. The band’s from Tokyo. Their execution’s perfect. Undeniably to their credit, they do make original pop punk (a genre that - as a whole - is as robust and exciting as an uninflated fuck doll right now). I’ll be honest. There’re right up to the teeter totter of being too perfect. Not in a calculated way, but in a way that they studied it very hard and have it down too pat. They’re almost too proficient. They make it sound almost too easy. And maybe because I’m a fan of barely contained rage when I’m served a bowl of punk rock without songs about girlfriends and bubblegum, but I was expecting more of a raw charge. The last song is a loungey dubbed-to-English version of the aforementioned Clash’s “I’m Not Down.” Drop me a line in six months to see if it’s still in my CD rotation. It’s definitely not bad. It just didn’t bomb my head or bowl a strike. –Todd Taylor (Snuffy Smile)

With these tunes Smoke Like A Fish have captured 2 tone at its very finest & unleashed an album that is very much an essential purchase for all fans of the ska genre! Also on Do The Dog Records.

SMOKING POPES "The Party's Over"-$6
With their final album, The Party's Over, released in 2001, five years after the band actually broke up, the Smoking Popes throw one last log into the fire, a giant final burst of flame proving why this Chicago punk band has attracted such a cultish following. With The Party's Over, it's clear that the band's appreciation for many great artists, an appreciation that leads them to embody varied sounds, tastes and qualities, has probably made them such a great punk-pop band. 10 songs....

SOPHIE NUN SQUAD-"The Devil, The Metal, The Big Booty Beats" CD-$5
PLAN IT X RECORDS Description from their site:the soophie nun sqaud are a bakers dozen of kids that are mostly from little rock Arkansas. there is a little dog there named soophie too. soophie will eat all your cat food and dribble water from his mustache all over your floor. in many ways so will the band. have you ever heard the judgement night soundtrack? it was basically the birth of the idea of mixing rap and metal bands. it's really good but spawned some really bad stuff eventually. but some people were influenced by it and punk rock at the same time and some good did come of it. this CD is an example of the goodness that can come from fusing genres and especially when they have a dose of really good, positive, energetic, exciting and inspiring punk rock. mix all of that with tight, bright colored costumes and amp standing, floor crawling theatrics and you have a great band and a great live show. i bought this record on LP the first time i encountered the band and i loved it as soon at the needle hit it. the jackets were re-painted LP jackets from other records. mine was once a muppet movie soundtrack and the painted over everything but gonzo. gonzo could be in this band. this has been on CD before but has been out of print for a while. anyhow, plan-it-x has it now and now it will be easy to get forever! this record is a food fight at a birthday party. cake and candles!

SPINNING HEADS- "Change the game" -$2
Finally the real essence of heavyness has been unleashed as you can the deafening rumble of ten-floor/thousand-ton building falling onto the desperate ground. This is the long awaited debut album by this new Fond Of Life Records artist. Super Absorber from landau, germany present their own melodic but intense punkrock with these 12 solid tunes.

SUPERSTATIC REVOLUTION- "Goodbye Mr Wanton" -$2
Goodbye Mr Wanton is a massive explosion of riffage, destroying the boundaries of metal music into an extended version of anger-driven modern heavy rock. SR construct with furtive grinds, unexpected turns and notes, desperate screams and gigantic emotions, transporting the mind on a high musical progression level.

SUPERSTATIC REVOLUTION- "Submerge 101010101" -$2
This cdep is actually the cd version of the 500-copy limited edition split 7’’ made originally possible by Shogun Records The cdep version features the 4 songs included in the 7’’ plus an all-out new lay-out and design. SUPERSTATIC REVOLUTION’s debut recording on this release simply strikes a blow. This band will in no time unleash its talent in the scene by its post hardcore metal mostly tainted by guitar cacophony and intricated structures with an hint of emotion. Fellow band SUBMERGE drives the nail further into the head with 2 new songs; torturated and emotive.

SUPERSTATIC REVOLUTION- "We kneel in the pews by the confession box mcd" -$2
The second effort from SR. Heavier, classier... comes as a slim digipack cd. No doubt about the fact that SUPERSTATIC REVOLUTION is going ahead of all influences, flying above more progressive beaches through longer songs and reinforce the way they choose on their debut and goes further in the emotional domain with 2 long songs 'Mary versus Jesus Christ' and 'For the limbs grow numb and any movement wakes'. The other songs develop other musical faces from SR with grind, melodies and that little hint of metal. Definitely more intrusive than their debut. A 5-song jammer to tell your beads.

TELEGRAPH "10 Songs and Then Some" CD-$10
Telegraphs sound builds on the energy & positive message from previous ska eras and adds anthemic punk rock progressions, full-throttle off-beats, and punchy horn stabs. Catchy as hell, The Skolars's punx ska energy brings instant comparisons to SLAPSTICK, SUICIDE MACHINES (whose drummer helped form the band in '93) Like the title says, there are 10 songs and then some. A collection of songs from 1993-96, originally released under the name the SKOLARS

TELEGRAPH, the "Switched On" CD-$10
It's been three years since the acclaimed debut release from Detroit's Telegraph. After years of extensive touring of the U.S. and Canada with the Suicide Machines, Mustard Plug, & Limp, not to mention several of their own national tours, the band finally took time off to write "Switched On" with their two new members: Matt Van from the now defunct Parka Kings and Derek Grant (ex-Suicide Machines & Thoughts of Ionesco). This is an album that will surely appeal to many walks of life, be it indie, emo, punk, pop, whatever. 14 songs total.

THE BANANAS-"A Slippery Subject" CD-$5
PLAN IT X RECORDS
From their site:since it took me two years to get the first record out by these guys i wasn't sure if i would ever get this one or not. but, alas here it is. released on april 1st 2001, this is even better than their first CD if you can believe that. it comes in a jewel box with full color printing and a sticker. i guess i should explain why. 1st. we decided to start offering our bands what ever kind of packaging they want. 2nd, we wanted to put out a CD that looks just as good as all the other labels CDs and comes with a sticker and still sell it for 5$. just to prove it can be done, lots of people think we sell our CDs cheap because of the packaging but it's not true. this CD cost 1.60 to make. so eat that mutant pop. this is the first PIX CD to be in a jewel box.

THE BANANAS-"The First 10 Years...of the" CD-$5
PLAN IT X RECORDS Description from their site:34 songs from the bananas, including all of their old out of print 7"s and demo tracks. this also includes their 1st full length album "forbidden fruit" (see below) this is a really fun record to listen to. 10 years! for real!

THE BARRYMORES "All Nighters"-$5
The Barrymores return with more of the ultra-positive, energetic ska that’s made them favorites of Winnipeg’s all ages music scene. The Barrymores put the “rude” back in rude boy with 13 brand new raunchy, raucous, raggedly punky numbers that will keep you dancing all night long!

THE DEVIL IS ELECTRIC "I'VE NEVER TRUSTED A REVOLUTIONARY THAT WAS AFRAID TO DANCE AND A BUNCH OF OTHER STUFF" CD -$5
PLAN IT X RECORDS Description from their site:after op:cc broke up. hannah and I (chris) started another band called disarm. disarm was much like op:cc with x-roadie turned drummer matte cathcart (now the drummer in the Door-Keys). disarm released one 7" on hotsauce records went on tour and broke up. I felt like giving up on being in a band since I couldn't seem to make it work out anymore. I decided i was a jerk and should quit. then grant ( a really great drummer ) kept saying we should start a band. I thought he was joking since his talent was on a whole different level than ours but he kept trying until one day he called me and ask "when do you want to practice?". So we did and it was good. It turned out we could get along pretty well I guess so off we went. We got off to a slow start then released out 7" in NOV of 2000 and toured a lot. we later released a full length CD called "i've never trusted a revolutionary that was afraid to dance" we sold them and broke up a little later and i repressed it with all the other songs we recorded. we had a split with TBIAPB on risk records and recorded songgs for a split with abe froman on smack dab in the middle records which never came out because the band broke up and we recorded songs for a split with carrie nations which also never came out but it was the label's fault in this case. so we threw them all of a CD DISCOGRAPHY by the same name except it says, and a bunch of other stuff. we also put on the disarm 7" for fun. so you get about 20 extra songs, the ones from the unreleased 7"s are our best songs we ever did in my opinion (and matty pop chart's) Guess what? It is political pop punk meant to change the world.

THE DOOR-KEYS "Holy Shit It's the ...." CD-$5
PLAN IT X RECORDS Description from their site:if i ran a real record label and i was a real record label dude i would say something about this being the door-key's sophmore effort. they always say that about a band's second release and they say something about how the sophmore record is always the hardest. well, i think the door-keys did really well with their...new record. it is great. much better production than the last one (but i like the last one's sound too). the songs are more solid and little more classic rock (in a good way) and less pop punk. maybe i am crazy, i might be wrong. this is good. the same dual, spooky, male/female vocals and weird melodies. a great sophmore release. oi. a real record label dude would never say, this is a good fucking record. holy shit, it's the door-keys!

THE FANTASTIK HOLE- "The Mathematikol Oil"-$2
No matter whyever THE FANTASTIKOL HOLE quartet deserves to be on a label catalogue, they're simply uncategorizable in the current century and for that reason should be heard out by any passionate of freaky music out there. Melting both experimental and metal scenes in an all-star 26-track episode, this digital piece dwells in machine-driven grindcore.

The Steinways "Unoriginal Recipe" 7" on black vinyl-$4
Recently, It's Alive has released the Unoriginal Recipe 7", which is six songs, all pretty silly, but sappy love songs. My favorite part is that none of the super short, almost teaser songs are on here. It's six solid, well written, well thought out songs that show what the Steinways are capable of.
