COLOSSAL is a four-piece band from Elgin, IL with a fantastic lineup that includes drummer, Rob Kellenberger (SLAPSTICK, TUESDAY, DUVALL), bassist Eli Caterer (SMOKING POPES, DUVALL), vocalist/guitarist Pat Ford, and Jason Flaks singing and playing guitar and trumpet. Welcome The Problems is the debut CD by COLOSSAL and the band's second release on Asian Man Records. The first, a self-titled EP was well received by critics, drawing comparisons to bands such as SEAM, AMERICAN FOOTBALL and TORTOISE. Like the EP, "Welcome The Problems" articulates a dynamic balance between unconventional arrangements and pop melodicism. The new album expands the compositional range of the band and seamlessly blends smooth and jagged rhythms, spacious and ornate guitar interplay, acrobatic and spartan trumpet playing, and reserved and demonstrative vocals.
