Don't Feed the Cats in Iraq includes seven short stories and a CD, the result of a multi-media collaboration between author Phil Nerges and song writer Vic Ruggiero. Each short story serves as a companion to a song.

The characters are civilians, truck drivers, and support-specialists, also known as camp followers, who provide services for the Army in Iraq. They don't carry guns, yet are often casualties during attacks. There won't be victory parades when they come home. They're not even counted among the war dead. This collection explores life at the edge of the battlefield.
